10 Days Tour - Monasteries of our Lady

Day 1: Arrival at Athens airport – Athens

We will meet you at the airport of Athens. We will have a look at Athens, named in honor of their patron saint - the favorite daughter of Zeus, goddess of wisdom Athena. City tour by bus, where our guide will show you the Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Presidential Palace and Kallimarmaro Stadium (Panathinaikon Stadium), where the first modern Olympic Games took place. Visit the fabulous Acropolis New Museum from where you can have a magnificent view of the Parthenon and Erectheum before viewing Athens a top Mars Hill where St. Paul stood and preached the truth to the Gentile nation. Visit also the Acropolis Parthenon and the Agora (ancient market place and centre of Athenian public life). A short walk through the narrow streets of the Old city, the famous Plaka with a multitude of shops and cafes. We will visit the Metropolis Cathedral, where the holy relics of Gregory V the Constantinople Patriarch are, and the small Kapnikarea church. Check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Athens - Mandra Attica - Salamina - Nemea - Tripoli

Early morning gather and depart for Mandra Attica, where we will visit one of the finest female monasteries in Greece, Panagia Gorgoepikoos. We continue to Megara where we will take the boat to sail on the beautiful island of Salamina. There we will visit the Monastery of Our Lady Revealed. The monastery is located in the municipality of Salamis Phaneromene into a pine tree forest. We continue to Nemea where you get to know the Monastery of the Virgin of the Rocks. The Monastery of the Dormition Rock Nemea is located almost in the middle hanged a steep and rocky terms. Finally, we arrive at the beautiful and historic city of Tripoli at the hotel of our stay. Dinner and overnight.


Day 3: Vytina - Valtesiniko - Virgin Malevi - Leonidion - Sparta

After taking breakfast we depart for the scenic Vitina, where we will worship at the Monastery of Panagia Kernitsa. The monastery according to rumors the years of Ottoman rule was used as a secret school. We continue to Valtesiniko, where we find the Monastery "The Assumption" was known as "Our Lady Valtesiniotissa" built about one mile from Valtesiniko. Old stamp mentions as date inception in 1625. Then we will go to Moni Panagia Kandila. Wedged in the cave of a lofty rock, the monastery stands majestic over the ancient memory of Orchomenus. We will continue to reach Panagia Malevi. It is the most famous monastery of Kynouria and attracts large number of pilgrims. Built on the slopes of mt. Parnonas at an altitude of 950 meters surrounded by a forest of rare and protected variety of trees. We will move to get to the Monastery of Panagia Elona in the beautiful Leonidion. The Monastery is built on a steep slope of mt. Parnonas. The position offers excellent views of the surrounding area. Finally, we head to the beautiful Sparta, and in the hotel of our stay. Dinner and overnight.


Day 4: Sparta

After breakfast we will visit the monasteries in the region of Sparta with the miraculous icons of our Lady. Our first stop the Monastery Revealed in Anavriti founded in the late 19th century by Archimandrite Athanasios Ladopoulos. Then we will go from Moni Panagia safe that was found in Paleopanaghia and access to it is from a passable dirt road. The church was founded in the early 17th century and is full of remarkable paintings of 1602. Walk to the Monastery of the Assumption, called Zerbitsa. The monastery is built in a prestigious location atop a hill of mt. Taygetos and gives the visitor a rare treat because from there can enjoy all the attractions of the beautiful valley of the Eurotas. The Monastery of Golas will be our next visit, situated at an altitude of a thousand meters in mt. Taygetos. Walk to the Monastery of Panagia Giatrissas. Within an idyllic location and altitude of 1040 meters is built the Monastery of Giatrissas that are so much related to the history and lives of the inhabitants of Vardounochorion. Late afternoon return to our hotel. Dinner and overnight.


Day 5: Valyra - Pyrgos - Vartholomio - Kyllini - Lanthio - Olympia

After breakfast we will follow the scenic route from Sparta to Kalamata via Pyrgos. On our way we will visit the Monastery Voulkanou in Valyra. Reaching Pyrgos will visit the Monastery Eisodiotissas where a school iconography and Byzantine music. Then we get to the Monastery Skafidias located just 10 km from Pyrgos and beside the deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea, at the mouth of the river Iardanos. Walk to the Monastery of Panagia Eleousis located near the village of Ligia in a deep wooded gorge. Nearby is a cave with stalactites that water is holy water. Will continue for the Monastery of Our Lady of the Castle Vlachernon Kyllinis. The monastery is situated in a wonderful valley, covered with olive trees and green accord trees, shrubs and flowers. The Monastery of Panagia Kremmastis that we visit next, impresses with its volume as if suspended in the rock. Then we get to our hotel in Olympia. Dinner and overnight.


Day 6: Divri - Kalavryta - Derveni - Akrata - Patras

After taking our breakfast we will depart from Olympia and crossing a unique way to enjoy the beautiful forest Folois and graphical Lampeia to get to Divri, where the Monastery Chrysopigi is. The monastery was built in the 17th century (1667) by Saint Joachim New from Skiada Achaia. We continue to Kalavryta to visit the historical monastery of Agia Lavra. The most precious treasure located in the monastery is the Flag of the swearing of the 1821 Revolution, the first words of the Greek Nation flag. We will continue to visit the Virgin Mary Plataniotissa. In a green setting, plentiful and cold water, is the church of Panagia Plataniotissa that has formed in the cavity of a huge plane tree, which came from three trees that grew together, and over time joined to create remarkable masterpiece of nature. Walk to the Monastery of the Great Cave which is situated in a stunning landscape at the entrance to a natural cave. It was built in 362 by the Thessalonians brothers, Simeon and Theodore. The Monastery of the Great Cave was a beacon of Orthodoxy and fortress against the Turkish conquerors. We continue to Derveni, where we admire in a cave, the church shelters. Then we will go to Aegio where we will worship the church of Virgin Tripiti. The miraculous image of Our Lady was the cause of thousands of pilgrims visit and over time this holy place became a great spiritual center Panhellenic radiation. In the afternoon we arrive in the beautiful Patras. Transfer to the hotel of our stay. Dinner and overnight.


Day 7: Patras

After breakfast we will visit the Church of St. Andrew. The imposing church dominates the coastal road of Patras is a registered trademark of the city. It is the largest church in Greece and the Balkans. Then we will visit the Monastery of Panagia Girokomitissas which is one of the oldest monasteries in Greece. Founded around the 10th century, then that appeared Monasticism in mainland Greece. Our next stop is the Abbey Pepelenitsas located near the village of Kounina, originally called "Hope of the despondent." Continuing, we reach the monastery Omblos. At an altitude of about 860 meters above the village Saravali operates the historic Monastery of Panagia Ompil in ethnic Albanian region, namely Sweet Lady or Omblos as prevailed. Then we arrive at the Monastery Merciful. Located near the village Pititsa within a beautiful forest, under Salmeniko, where there was a fort in the early 13th century. In the afternoon we return to our hotel. Dinner and overnight.


Day 8: Nafpaktos - Karpenisi

After breakfast we will depart from Patras through the magnificent bridge Rio-Andirrion will move in Nafpaktos to visit the Monastery of Panagia Varnakova, a Byzantine building of 1077, the fifth oldest in Greece. And then through a wonderful journey, we will go to Prousos and Monastery Prousiotissa. Following the snaky road in the valley of river reaching the courtyards of the monastery where the Virgin Mary, wanted to build the house. We continue to Tatarna Lake, where we will visit the famous and legendary Monastery of Panagia Tatarna which is a band of land that penetrates into the large artificial lake hanging. We will arrive in beautiful Karpenissi at the hotel of our stay. Dinner and overnight.


Day 9: Karpenisi - Lamia - Amfiklia - Davlia - Athens

After breakfast we will depart from Karpenisi to visit the Monastery of Agathon. In a magical environment, the way to the tales and quite close to the High, we meet the Monastery Agathon, at an altitude of 553 meters on the slopes of Mount Iti. We will continue to Damastas monastery dedicated to the Nativity of Mary, situated on the slopes of mt. Kallidromon a height of 580 m and is feminine. The church is of 11th century paintings of 1818. After Lamia we will head to the Monastery Antinitsas in Amfiklia. The Monastery of Panagia Antinitsas situated on the slopes of Mount Othris. We continue to Monastery Dadi located in a short distance from Amfiklia around 5 km in an idyllic area with pines and a variety of shrubs. Then we will visit the Monastery of Jerusalem or 'Gersali' located near Davlia Boeotia on the slopes of Mount Parnassos. It is thought that it was built in the 11th century AD. The church of the monastery is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. In the afternoon arrival in Athens. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Athens - Departure

This morning after our breakfast we depart from our hotel to Athens airport. Departure flight back home.
